  1. Randy Tongue says:

Something you may want to try around the goal line is lining up the H-Back in a sniffer position behind the guard. Then direct snap to him and run wedge up the middle. The QB can do all types of fakes. I know it’s not zone, but it’s a very easy blocking scheme to install. A spread Singlewing team did this to my team last year, and they beat us pretty bad.

    1. That’s a nice little adjustment coach. I think I’m going to put that in with our Heavy Package. The Up-Back will freaking love the play. Thanks man.

  2. Coach Tad Barton says:

What are you doing when you get a “Dirty” box? do you continue to run IZ despite being out numbered or are you working quick game, tagging RPOs to the IZ?

    1. What do you mean by a dirty box? More defenders than blockers? Because if we have that then we will throw the quick screen all the time. Might not complete it all the time but it forces defenses to think about it.

  3. Anonymous says:

Our QB won’t throw the ball on time. So game 2 was IZ left, IZ right, counter, then boot with some QB scramble drill thrown in. 49 carries for 312. Not the “using the whole field everyone is a threat” offense that we were looking for, but it worked.

    1. Hey man,

If it works…it works. I’ve had to go that route this season as well. It’s killing me but you got to do what you got to do.

  4. Dustin Sealey says:

This works. Up until this past week… we ran power to the right, counter to the left, pin and pull, and inside zone. In our second game.. we had 44 yds rushing. Our third game.. we only ran inside zone and had 238 yds rushing. Crazy..

    1. It’s amazing how great your players play when you keep it simple, isn’t it. I always have to remind myself that and don’t over coach things.
